We are tutors in the south-west of England for BSL Level 1 and 2. Other subjects we teach to Level 1 qualification include 'Deaf and Deafblind Awareness' and 'Communication Tactics with Deaf and Deafblind People'.
Within the Deaf and Deafblind Awareness course and in order to allow students to experience a degree of deafness, we ask students to wear ear-plugs for up to a 24 hour period, thus creating a controlled deaf environment. As part of this exercise, students are asked to record their findings, experiences and thoughts in the form of either a diary, a story or a poem.
